Parties, Renos, Bedrest and Prep

I guess there is more than one way to end the summer with a bang. Last year it was a marvelous family trip back East seeing the sights and visiting friends in Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec city. This year it's a bathroom reno, Evvy's 9th birthday party and abdominal surgery.  So far, all three events have gone as well as possible, although the reno is still underway and I now find myself trying not to go twitchy with confinement as I allow my body to heal from its ordeal.

Despite the stressful final week, I've had more than my share of fun and relaxation this summer. I've treasured the opportunity to spend lots of time with my daughters,  to re-connect with some old friends, to hang out with my family @ Shuswap Lake and to tie up many loose-end projects around home. All in all the Summer has flown by - as it always does, and now the falling leaves leave me no choice to face up to Fall.

Well Summer, it's been been a blast. See you again next year!

As for September 6th and beyond, I've taken on more than enough challenges to make my head spin. In no particular order:

- Embarking on two more online UBC courses for my Teacher-Librarianship diploma which I'm excited about continuing.
- Teaching English 9, Psychology 11 and the newly revamped Sciences Humaines 9, which I am still wrapping my head around at present (thank goodness for my prep this semester!)
- Getting back into my running and pilates routine, as soon as my body says "go"
- Ferrying my lovely Evvy to school,  piano lessons, Irish dance and various other weekly commitments
- Feeding everyone and keeping the house from descending into the depths of squalor (the never-ending challenges of wifedom and motherhood)
- Reinstating a weekly date night with my hubby to keep us connected through this busy time

This fall's schedule will doubtless test my organizational skills, my resolve, my anxiety levels and my immune system. Sleep, good food, exercise and lots of chai tea should keep me going. These necessities, along with support from my friends and family (who have the good sense not to believe me when I smile brightly and say "everything's going just fine!") should get me through until December.

Until then, I will live day by day and find things to enjoy about each one.
